The analysis of the relationship between archaeological pottery and social processes and/or organization has been the research focus in contemporary archaeology. In this line, questions dealing with production patterns and scales, as well as distributional and/or interaction webs or processes, social differentiation and identity, among others, are considered in our recent works in La Cueva gorge, Humahuaca, Jujuy province. In this paper, we present the methodological guidelines followed to examine the relationship between pottery and social processes (implying the study of the questions aforementioned), from the field-work to the laboratory, including a review of the analyses to be carried out in order to fulfill our objectives.
